Sick bags and San Francisco

It wasn't easy but after Jenny being sick into an M&S bag on the way to Heathrow, three, count it, three different sick bags on the flight from Vancouver to San Francisco. Then once again this morning at our hotel...just for good measure, we have arrived safely at our first destination.

In all fairness the connecting flight was terrible. Due to something the pilot called wind shears, which are apparently rather annoying when trying to land a plane as we bobbed up and down over the bay, getting tossed from side-to-side, before at the last minute pulling up again to try a second attempt.

Thankfully the long haul flight was excellent. We both agreed it was the best long distance flight we have been on and the on board entertainment system had more films and TV series than you could possibly watch in 9 hours. It also turned out to be the pilots final flight before retirement and when we touched down in Vancouver the plane was showered with water by a fire engine, which they assured was an Air Canada tradition...not because the engines were on fire then.

It seems wind is something we are going to have to get used to for the next few days. I've never visited Chicago but I think who ever nicknamed it the 'windy city' hadn't been to San Francisco. If you stray out of the Californian sun (which we have thankfully had beaming down all day) the wind will cut very deep and you'll soon find yourself wishing you'd worn something warmer than shorts and a t-shirt.

We went to a baseball game today at the AT&T park. Dubbed a local derby, it was the third game in a series between the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers. The stadium was fantastic and puts to shame any I have been to in England based on it's picturesque location on the bay alone, however the Giants were terrible and lost  8-2. Early night tonight, two tours tomorrow starting at 9.15 AM. A few of the photos we took so far should be visible in the menu over there on the right so check them out. I'm particularly proud of the snap of Greenland taken on an iPhone.
